Developing with purpose

Like most people in my field, I started developing for the web by accident. As a child I always thought I was destined to become a computer technician, doomed to spend most of my adult years in an old dusty garage repairing hardware and chugging coke. A little more than 7 years later Im designing websites for companies; breathing and loving it. I’d have passed on a pleasant conversation over dinner with Keira Knightley to download fonts and brushes. I was obsessed.

Today I find myself whistling a slightly different tune; same genre, different song. Designing, coding and developing websites for other companies no longer fits my career description. When your as tangled up in the web as I am your in a club with billions of enthusiast just like you. You read their blogs, scout their work, hell… you even eat their brand of toast because they twitter’d it. The only true difference between them and yourself is they contribute and play a more relevant role in the development of the web. To me, designing websites for others isn’t as rewarding when you use services like Facebook and Google. I want to set sail to construct my own significant contribution to the web and develop a web-based service that offers convenience, ease of use, a beautiful design and mind-blowing functionality. Only then will I be satisfied creatively and motivated passionately to continue my career and confidently title myself Web Developer and Programmer.

So, with that, I’ve began working on a few projects that I am already very proud of. I will for sure post those future ideas when they become much more mature.

Please learn the difference between “your” and “you’re”.

“When your as tangled up in the web as I am your in a club with billions of enthusiast just like you.”

should be:

“When you’re as tangled up in the web as I am, you’re in a club with billions of enthusiasts just like you.”

Thanks.
