Lets talk Adium
Lets talk a bit about instant messaging. Its come a long way, wouldn’t you agree? If your between the ages of 15 and 25, chances are your logged into your favorite messenger client pretty much through your whole day. Even right now as your reading!

I think its safe to say the majority of my friends use MSN Live Messenger for the Windows Platform. Great Instant Messenger by the way. Oh, and then you’ve got those cool plugins that you could install that include all those cool viruses that you don’t even know you have yet. I divorced that particular client when I switched over to the Mac.
Many new Mac switchers find a hard time finding ‘MSN Messenger for Mac‘ (which is actually made by Microsoft, not Apple) or something similar that incorporates all the same and/or better features than it’s Windows cousin. The problem is, Microsoft has never been really good at implementing their IM client on the Macintosh from the jump so people are forced to search for alternatives instead.
Thats where Adium comes in! Adium is an open source Instant Messenger application for a number of various chat protocols. What the heck does that mean? Well, basically it takes your MSN, Yahoo, iChat, Google Chat, AOL , ICQ and others and allows you to talk to all of your buddies on one combined list. Totally eliminating the need to open 4 or 5 different applications at one time. The great thing about it is its 100% customizable. So you could dress it however you like.
If your on a Mac, take a look at this great app here. We’ll just have to wait and see what Microsoft is cooking up as the next version to MSN for Mac.
Oh, did I mention, the icon is a little green dock! Cool huh?
